Running Form
It is important to have good running form anytime we are practicing or warming up. This will make us better runners and help prevent injuries. Whether we are warming up, doing a workout, or running easy – we need to be practicing good running form.
Cold Weather
As the weather gets cooler, you need to be sure you have warm clothes and layers for your runs. You often won’t need jackets or long pants for the entirety of the run, but it is important to warm up properly. Having a good head/ear warmer and gloves is essential to staying warm.
Cadence Gear
-
2 practice shirts are required on initial sign up.
-
We encourage athletes to wear them to all practices.
-
More information on Cadence shirts and racing singlets to come.
Warm Weather
It is essential that you bring water to all practices but especially when the weather starts to get warm. Please be sure you dress in light-weight running gear. A hat is a great way to stay cool. Bring water and wear sunscreen!
Rainy Weather
If it is just raining, we will still hold practice. If there is lightning or thunder we will cancel practice. Be sure to dress appropriately in the rain. A light-weight rain jacket is a great option. Having a hat can help keep the rain out of your eyes/face.
Running Shoes
It is essential runners have a good, well-maintained pair of running shoes. It can be overwhelming to know where to start. Speak with one of the coaches or go to one of the local FW running shoe stores for assistance.
Running Etiquette
During our training sessions, we will be sharing the trail and track with others. We need to be sure we are paying attention and following the “rules of the road.”
-
Always stay to the right of the trail when running
-
Do not take up the whole trail, stay on the right side of the trail
-
Pass others on the left
-
Be sure to announce you are passing by saying “on your left”
-
-
When merging on the trail ensure you look in front AND behind you for others
-
Especially for bikers or runners that are moving faster than you are
-
-
Be sure to smile and wave at other people enjoying the trail!
